Supply of Cranes, operators and rigging personnel for the upgrading and construction of the Darwin sewer line was awarded to Monsta Cranes by Macmahon Holdings, another of Australia's leading construction companies. A further testament to the Monsta teams ability to deliver in major capital works projects.
The construction of a new sewer main diverted sewage to the Dinah Beach trunk sewer and then on to the Ludmilla Wastewater Treatment plant to eliminate the discharge of raw sewage through the Larrakeyah outfall. The project involved construction of a new collector sewer along the south side of Darwin's central business district (CBD). Macmahon Holdings Limited submitted the successful tender and was awarded the $A12 million contract to use micro-tunnelling in order to minimize aboveground disturbances for a portion of the project. The sewer improvement was part of the Northern Territory Government's $A80 million project to shut down the Larrakeyah Outfall by October 2011 and upgrade Darwin's wastewater system.
